Proposition 1, Abortion: Yes

Well there you go again, said a famous politician who was not so famous for undermining the government he so wanted to lead. The very first proposition out of the gate after I told you that your default position on propositions should be No is one where I tell you to vote Yes.

Unfortunately, Republicans are stacking courts across the country with authoritarian fascist judges, and the only way to ensure individual freedoms is to enshrine them in Constitutions. Reproductive freedom is one of those.

Now before you go all religious nutbag on me, I will say here that I wish no abortions were necessary ever. That, however, is fantasy, not reality, and it is not my business, nor the business of my government, to determine the health choices of women. That is solely between them and their health care providers.

It is unfortunate that money has to be spend to ensure these rights are enshrined in the state Constitution. That money could be better spent in many other areas. But enshrine these rights we must, lest they be stripped away by some future capricious courts. Yes on 1.
