Proposition 3: Yes
The irony of the 2nd measure I write about to counter my “vote No by default” message is not lost on me. But this isn’t about any sort of “follow the money” law grab. And by law this isn’t something that the legislation can just change, so it is not an abdication of responsibility on their part.
Proposition 8, also known as Prop H8, was from a shameful chapter in our state when anti-gay bigotry still held sway in public and political circles. Since then, we have evolved. But even through Prop. 8 was invalidated by the U.S. Supreme Court, we learned once again last year that nothing is “settled law.”
This codifies in the California Constitution the fundamental right for 2 adults to marry. There is zero reason for any decent person to oppose this concept. The opposition is, in plain language, making shit up.
For fairness, for decency, for a better society, vote Yes.
