Proposition 32: No

OK, here we go. In the past, the California state legislature passed laws governing minimum wage in the state. The most recently passed bill. was in 2016, which got out state minimum wage to $15/hour.

Now, someone doesn’t think the legislature works fast enough to pass a new law to keep up with current inflation, so they decided to take their plea directly to voters.

Folks, this shit costs us money. Money that could be much better spent on lots of things. Schools. Police & fire. Roads.

But no.

Look, there’s no argument here that inflation hits all of us. And the folks who work their asses off at the lower end of the wage scale definitely deserve to make a living wage. It’s just that this is the wrong way to go about solving this problem.

And c’mon, the folks who put is on the ballot are really trying to manipulate you, the voter. They call their organization the “Working Hero Action for the Living Wage Act PAC.” Talk about an overused, overhyped word, folks who work for a living aren’t heroes, they’re just everyday folks.

And let’s be clear about one thing. A higher minimum wage is not bad for business. Quite the contrary, the data shows over and over and over that a decent, living wage helps businesses thrive. This opposition isn’t about supporting businesses.

Send a message. Let the legislature legislate. Don’t waste our money on feel-good initiatives. Vote No.
