Election ’24 Recommendations
1 min readOct 17, 2024
Getting a little bit of a late start on this, but its been a buy few months. Still, if you’re a decent, patriotic citizen, your vote this year comes down to two principles:
- For candidates, it’s (D) all the way down. Republicans have descended into fascism and authoritarianism, and it hss infected the party all the way down the ballot. Democrats may not be perfect, but they are the only choice if we want to continue as a country.
- For propositions, the default choice is No. Almost always, ballot propositions are either an abdication of duty by elected representatives, some entity trying to buy themselves a law to benefit themselves, or performative nonsense. None of these are reasons for a Yes vote. That’s why No should be your default and getting to Yes should require clearing much higher hurdles.
Below are links to deeper analyses of California propositions in 2024.
- Prop 2, Public Education Facilities Bond Measure: No
- Prop 3, Right to Marry and Repeal Proposition 8 Amendment: Yes
